Cultural Visits During the Erasmus+ 3D Academy Mobility – February 2026
As part of the Erasmus+ project “3D Academy”, students and teachers participating in the P1 – “3D Printing Step by Step” mobility in February 2026 combined technical workshops with enriching cultural experiences across the Czech Republic. These visits provided an opportunity to explore historical landmarks, architecture, and regional heritage, enhancing the international learning experience of the participants.
In Prague, students visited some of the city’s most iconic sites, including the Charles Bridge and the various historical palaces that showcase Baroque and Gothic architecture. One highlight was the Astronomical Clock at the Old Town Hall, where students admired its intricate mechanisms and learned about the historical significance of this landmark, which has been a symbol of Prague for centuries.

The mobility also included a trip to Olomouc, where participants explored the Archbishop’s Palace and the surrounding historic center. Students were able to appreciate the combination of medieval and modern architectural styles and, once again, observe a local astronomical clock, gaining insight into the craftsmanship and cultural traditions of the region.

Nature and geology were also part of the experience, with a guided visit to the Javořická Caves, where students explored the underground formations and learned about the geological history and natural heritage of the area. This visit offered a contrast to the urban cultural tours and highlighted the diversity of the Czech landscape.

In Novi Jičín, the students visited the Museum of Industrial History, which provided a historical perspective on local manufacturing and technological development. The museum’s exhibits complemented the participants’ practical workshops, linking historical industrial practices with modern additive manufacturing techniques explored during the mobility.

Finally, the group explored Ostrava, including its vibrant city center and the campus of Ostrava University, allowing students to experience a modern academic environment and the city’s cultural offerings. The visits highlighted how urban development, education, and cultural heritage coexist in contemporary Czech cities.

These cultural activities enriched the mobility by offering students a broader understanding of Czech history, architecture, and industry. They also provided opportunities for reflection, discussion, and intercultural exchange, reinforcing the Erasmus+ objectives of fostering international collaboration and mutual learning.
For the participants of the 3D Academy Erasmus+ project, combining technical workshops with visits to historic and cultural sites helped create a well-rounded learning experience, connecting the technological knowledge gained in workshops with the rich cultural and historical context of the host regions.
