Introduction to 3D design in virtual reality using Google Open Blocks. Participants will create simple 3D models and objects inside a VR environment while learning the fundamentals of block-based spatial modeling and immersive design thinking.
Virtual Reality and 3D Modelling Workshop
During the second mobility of the 3D Academy Erasmus+ Project in Torremolinos, students participated in an interactive workshop focused on the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technologies for 3D design and modelling.
Using Meta Quest (Oculus Quest) headsets, participants explored innovative applications such as Open Blocks, Open Brush (formerly Open Draw), and Arkio, which allow users to create and manipulate three-dimensional objects directly within an immersive virtual environment. Through these tools, students experienced a new and intuitive approach to 3D modelling, spatial design, and digital creativity.
The workshop enabled students to design objects, create artistic drawings in three-dimensional space, and collaborate on architectural and conceptual models in real time. By interacting with virtual objects at full scale, participants gained a deeper understanding of spatial relationships and design principles while developing their digital and creative skills.
This activity demonstrated how Virtual Reality can be used as a powerful educational tool, combining innovation, creativity, and technology to provide engaging learning experiences and prepare students for the future of digital design and engineering.
