On the afternoon and evening of 11 May 2026, students participating in the second mobility of the 3D Academy Erasmus+ Project, organised by IES Playamar, took part in an educational visit to Málaga. The activity brought together students from Spain, the Czech Republic, and Poland .

The visit provided participants with an opportunity to explore Málaga’s rich historical legacy while strengthening relationships between students from different European countries. The itinerary began in the city’s Historic Centre, where students discovered the cultural and architectural heritage that has shaped Málaga over centuries. Walking through the famous Calle Larios, they learned about the city’s urban development and the importance of preserving historical spaces as part of Europe’s shared cultural identity.
The group then continued to Muelle Uno, Málaga’s modern waterfront area, where students observed how contemporary urban development can coexist with historical heritage. This visit encouraged discussions about sustainable cities, tourism, and the balance between tradition and innovation in modern European societies.
Participants also visited two of Málaga’s most important historical landmarks: the Roman Theatre and Gibralfaro Castle. These monuments provided valuable insights into the civilizations that have influenced the city throughout history, from the Roman period to the Muslim era. Through these visits, students gained a greater appreciation of the cultural diversity and historical richness that characterize the region.

A particularly significant part of the excursion took place at the Monument to Torrijos and his Companions in Plaza de la Merced. Here, students reflected on themes such as democracy, citizenship, freedom, and civic responsibility. The monument commemorates the sacrifice of General José María Torrijos and his companions, who fought in defence of constitutional freedoms and democratic principles. This activity encouraged participants to consider the importance of active citizenship and the values upon which modern European democracies are built.

The day concluded with one of the most memorable experiences of the mobility: a catamaran trip along the Málaga coastline. For many of the students from the Czech Republic and Poland, who live far from the sea, this was a unique and unforgettable opportunity. The excursion allowed them to experience the Mediterranean environment first-hand, admire the city from a different perspective, and share a special moment with their international friends and classmates.

The visit successfully combined history, culture, citizenship education, and intercultural exchange. Through the exploration of Málaga’s heritage and the reflection on democratic values, students developed a deeper understanding of European identity while strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation that are at the heart of the Erasmus+ programme.

The Activity was coordinated by Mr. Alfonso Ballesteros, who designed the programme to combine cultural heritage, citizenship education, and intercultural learning. This activity perfectly reflected the objectives of the 3D Academy Erasmus+ Project by promoting cultural awareness, active citizenship, mutual respect, and international collaboration among young Europeans.
