3D Protolab in Ostrava Showcases Innovation Through Erasmus+ “3D Academy” Workshops
Ostrava, February 19, 2026 — The 3D Protolab is an Laboratory situated in the University of Ostrava . They served as the venue for a series of dynamic workshops forthe Erasmus+ project “3D Academy,” offering students a comprehensive introduction to modern additive manufacturing technologies.
The activities brought together international students from Spain (IES Playamar), Poland (ZST Center), and the Czech Republic (Mendelova Secondary School), fostering collaboration and cultural exchange in a highly technical learning environment.
Across four workshops, participants explored key aspects of 3D printing. The first session introduced filament-based printing technologies, focusing on materials and basic processes.

Finally, students attended a high-level demonstration of industrial 3D printing using carbon fiber and metal technologies, featuring advanced machines like the Formiga P 100 Velocis, Powershot X, and RenAM 500S Flex.

Through a combination of theory and hands-on experience, students developed essential technical skills and gained insight into real-world applications of additive manufacturing. The workshops also inspired participants to further explore innovation and pursue future opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.
Overall, the 3D Protolab proved to be an ideal environment for learning, experimentation, and international cooperation, reinforcing the objectives of the Erasmus+ “3D Academy” project.
