3D Collaboration with the Revel Racing Team – STEM Racing Project

Activities

As part of the educational and innovation activities promoted through the 3D Academy Erasmus+ project, we were proud to collaborate with the Revel Racing Team from IES Playamar in their participation in the STEM Racing competition. This initiative provided an excellent opportunity to connect advanced manufacturing technologies, engineering design, and teamwork with real-world educational challenges.

Our collaboration focused on supporting the design, development, and production of the team’s prototype racing cars. Through the expertise and resources available within the 3D Academy project, we contributed to the design process and assisted in the manufacturing of several prototype models using advanced 3D printing technologies. This allowed students to transform their digital concepts into physical prototypes, enabling them to test, evaluate, and improve their designs throughout the development process.

The use of 3D printing played a key role in the project, providing students with hands-on experience in computer-aided design (CAD), rapid prototyping, product development, and engineering problem-solving. By manufacturing multiple prototype versions, the team was able to refine aerodynamic features, optimize performance, and gain a deeper understanding of the engineering principles involved in competitive racing design.

In addition to our technical support, we were pleased to sponsor the Revel Racing Team during their participation in the STEM Racing competition. This sponsorship reflected our commitment to promoting STEM education and encouraging young people to engage with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through practical and motivating learning experiences.

STEM Racing is an internationally recognized educational programme that challenges students to design, manufacture, test, and race miniature Formula One-style cars powered by compressed CO₂ cartridges. The competition develops a wide range of technical and transferable skills, including engineering design, project management, teamwork, communication, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Our partnership with the Revel Racing Team demonstrated the value of collaboration between educational institutions, students, and technology-focused projects such as 3D Academy. By working together, we helped create an environment where students could apply theoretical knowledge to real engineering challenges while developing the skills required for future academic and professional careers.

We would like to congratulate all members of the Revel Racing Team and the staff of IES Playamar for their dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm throughout the project. It was a privilege to support their efforts and contribute to an initiative that successfully combines innovation, technology, and education.

This collaboration perfectly reflects the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme by fostering creativity, digital skills, international-mindedness, and practical learning experiences that prepare young people for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
